Prayer Positions

What an exciting week we’ve had in Year 2! As part of our RE learning, our clever six-year-olds have been discovering how people from different world religions talk to God and practice prayer.

To help bring these big ideas to life, we decided to get moving and try out some of the different prayer positions ourselves!

First, we tried sitting quietly with our hands open on our laps—just like many Christians and Jewish people do when they say a prayer. Then, we were so careful and respectful by practicing kneeling and bowing down to show humility and devotion just like Muslims do when they pray. Finally, we sat cross-legged and pressed our palms together in a Namaste gesture, taking big, deep breaths to focus our minds, just like in Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

It was wonderful to see how eager our little learners were to join in. They soon noticed that even though the postures look completely different, they all come from the same special place of wanting to share love, peace, and thanks.

We are so proud of Year 2 for showing such fantastic curiosity, empathy, and respect for others!
