Year 2 have had a fantastic time exploring Leeds city centre as part of our We Love Leeds topic, where we have been learning about History, Geography and Art.
During our visit, we explored some of Leeds’ most famous landmarks. At Leeds Minster, we discovered one of the city’s oldest buildings and learned about its importance in Leeds’ history. We also visited Kirkgate Market, where we saw a busy marketplace full of interesting stalls, and the beautiful Corn Exchange, with its unique architecture and rich heritage.
Our art trail took us around the city to discover some incredible murals. We loved spotting the colourful You and Me Mural, the inspiring Kalvin Phillips Mural, and the vibrant Cornucopia artwork. We were amazed by the striking Hibiscus Rising mural and enjoyed finding the creative Owl Market Mural and Caribbean Cricket Club Mural.
Throughout the day, we used maps, observed human and physical features, and discussed how Leeds has changed over time. The trip brought our classroom learning to life and helped us develop a deeper appreciation of our city’s history, culture and creativity.
We are proud to say that we really do love Leeds! 💙💛
